This talk by Scott Hilton Davis was delivered at the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York City on Sepetember 3, 2019 (3 Elul 5779) in honor of the Yiddish author Jacob Dinezon’s 100th yortsayt. Executive director Jonathan Brent introduced the program which was facilitated by director of public programs Alex Weiser. Following the talk, Sheva Zucker joined Scott for readings in both Yiddish and English from Jacob Dinezon’s novel The Dark Young Man. The evening concluded with a Question and Answer period that included Tina Lunson, the Yiddish translator of Dinezon’s Memories and Scenes: Shtetl, Childhood, Writers and The Dark Young Man.
